Kentucky Requirement Detail for Real Estate Post-Licensing Education

All new sales associate licensees to complete forty-eight (48) hours of post-license education courses (PLE) within two (2) years of obtaining and activating a real estate license.  (If you received your sales associate license prior to January 1, 2016, you are not required to complete PLE.)

Hours Required By The State: 48 hours

  • 32 hours of mandatory course content
  • 16 hours of elective course content

Final Exam Instructions: Each course contains a final exam. A minimum score of 75% is required to pass the final exam.

Seat Time: The Kentucky Real Estate Commission requires that all students spend a minimum amount of seat time engaged in the course content. Our online course delivery system manages this requirement for you.

The CE Shop Offering: 48 hours

Reporting: Real estate course completions are reported to the Kentucky Real Estate Commission. The state requires schools to report course completions within seven to ten days from the course completion date. Course completions will be reported within this time frame.

Expiration Date of Course: Course expiration dates vary by course but are generally one year after order date.  Each course has an individual expiration date which is listed in your account.

Certificates: Upon completion of the course, The CE Shop will provide students with an electronic certificate of completion. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five years, should you need additional copies. Please refer to your license application to determine if you need to submit your certificate of completion with your license request. Course completion dates are recorded using Central Standard Time. Please note that the date of your certificate of completion will reflect this.

CE/PLE Dual Credit: Effective immediately, if a PLE student takes a course that is approved for both PLE and CE, they will get credit for both. This way, PLE licensees will not have to take extra CE courses for their last year of PLE, as long as they take a course that is approved for both in that calendar year.  Current CE Shop courses approved for BOTH PLE and CE: Marketing, Advertising, and Social Media Compliance ; Residential Property Management Essentials; Roadmap to Success - Business Planning for Real Estate ProfessionalsWorking With Real Estate Investors: Understanding Investor Strategies.
